Mild the mist upon the hill,

Telling not of storms to-morrow;

No; the day has wept its fill,

Spent its store of silent sorrow.

Oh, I'm gone back to the days of youth,

I am a child once more;

And 'neath my father's sheltering roof,

And near the old hall door.

I watch this cloudy evening fall,

After a day of rain:

Blue mists, sweet mists of summer pall

The horizon's mountain-chain.

The damp stands in the long, green grass

As thick as morning's tears;

And dreamy scents of fragrance pass

That breathe of other years.

পাহাড়ে হালকা কুয়াশা,

আগামীকাল ঝড়ের কথা বলছে না;

না; আজ দিনভর কেঁদেছে,

নীরব দুঃখের ভাণ্ডার নিঃশেষ করেছে।

ওহ, আমি যেন ফিরে গেছি যৌবনের দিনে,

আমি আরও একবার শিশু হয়ে গেছি;

এবং 'আমার বাবার বাড়ির ছাদের নীচে,

আর পুরোনো হলের দরজার কাছে।

আমি এই মেঘলা সন্ধ্যার আগমন দেখি,

একটানা বৃষ্টির পর:

নীল কুয়াশা, গ্রীষ্মের মিষ্টি নীল কুয়াশা

দিগন্তের পাহাড়-শৃঙ্খলে বিস্তৃত।

স্যাঁতসেঁতে লম্বা, সবুজ ঘাসে মিশে আছে

সকালের কান্নার মতোই ঘন;

এবং সুগন্ধি স্বপ্নময় বাতাস বয়ে চলেছে

পুরাতন বছরের শ্বাস বয়ে আনছে।
